Pathway To Success
Murray Jackson
Electrician
As Yura Yarta continues to foster the talents and ambitions of Indigenous youth, Murray Jackson stands out as a powerful example of the company’s commitment in action. An Adnyamathanha Yura from the Flinders Ranges, Murray has been part of Yura Yarta since its inception and has now reached a major milestone in his career.
Murray is officially Yura Yarta’s first certified apprentice, having successfully completed his electrical apprenticeship with Ice Engineering, a subsidiary of Yura Yarta. His certification marks not just a personal achievement, but a significant step forward in Yura Yarta’s mission to empower Indigenous Australians through meaningful employment and professional development.
Murray’s journey has been shaped by both dedication and culture. While progressing through his apprenticeship, he maintained a strong connection to his roots, spending his time outdoors camping, hunting on Country, and riding dirt bikes across the rugged terrain of his ancestral lands.
Reflecting on his achievement, Murray shared, “I’m proud to be Yura Yarta’s first certified apprentice. It’s been a great journey, and I’m excited to see what’s next as a qualified electrician.”
His story sets a benchmark for others to follow showcasing what’s possible when opportunity, support, and determination come together. Murray’s success not only celebrates his own hard work but also paves the way for the next generation of Indigenous tradespeople to thrive.
